Removing and installing/replacing instrument panel (X5 M)

Special tools required: 

• 64 1 030

Attention! 

Comply with notes on protection against electrostatic damage (ESD PROTECTION ).

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Disconnect BATTERY EARTH LEAD .
• Move steering column completely rearwards
• If necessary, tape over trim and instrument panel to protect against damage
• Remove TRIM FOR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER .

Insert special tool 64 1 030 in each case in second slot, on left and right, of instrument cluster (2).

Feed special tool 64 1 030 into clamp (1) and pull downward.

Feed out instrument cluster (2) in direction of arrow.

Disconnect plug connections (1) and remove instrument cluster (2).

Installation note: 

Retaining tabs (1) of instrument panel (2) must be exactly seated in mountings of dashboard.

Replacement: 

Carry out PROGRAMMING/ENCODING .

Check values for Condition Based Service (CBS) and correct if necessary.

If necessary, adjust HEAD-UP DISPLAY .
