Removing and installing/replacing gutter strip on windscreen (up to build version 08/2016) (X5 M)

Unclip the gutter strip (1) upward from the clamps (2) beginning with the roof.

Feed gutter strip (1) out of the grommet (3).

Installation note: 

Replace faulty clamps (2).

Feed the gutter strip (1) correctly into the grommet (3).

First, align gutter strip (1) with the roof, then clip it in.

Exception:  New gutter strips (1) may only be removed once for correcting the position.

Replacement: 

The gutter strip trim must be painted before installation.

Remove bridges (1).

Clean adhesive area (2) with CLEANING AGENT R2 .

Observe the air drying time of min. 1 minute.

In order to ensure adequate bonding, a double-sided adhesive tape must be applied additionally.

Remove the protective film (1).

Apply DOUBLE-SIDED ADHESIVE TAPE  (2) over the entire length of the existing adhesive tape.

Begin with the positioning of the support on the trim at the upper end of the gutter strip.

Place the support (1) at an angle in the trim (2) and align.

Make sure the support (1) is correctly seated on the trim (2).

Bond the support (1) to the trim (2) and press together with your hand for approx. 5 minutes.
