Removing and installing/replacing door lock in left or right front door (X5 M)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove rear section of POWER WINDOWS .
• Remove OUTER HANDLE .

Version with Soft Close Automatic: 

Feed out cover (1) in direction of arrow.

Version with Soft Close Automatic: 

Disconnect Bowden cable at bottom (1) and top (3) from door lock (2).

Installation note: 

With one hand at the top, pull hook for Bowden cable (3) slightly downwards and with the other hand hook on Bowden cable.

Bowden cable must be correctly engaged in locators in door lock (2).

Cable must be routed without kinking.

Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.

Unfasten cable strap (2).

Loosen screw (1) by approx. 2 rotations.

Carefully remove support (2) from door.

Installation note: 

Do not remove screw (1) fully.

Make sure the support (2) In area (A) Is fitted correctly.

Unclip locking rod (1).

Unfasten screws (2).

Remove door lock (3) from inside with outer door handle support.

Installation note: 

Observe tightening sequence:  bottom - top - inner.

Tightening torque 51 21 1AZ .

Replacement: 

Disconnect Bowden cable (1).

Detach locking rod (2).
