Perform brake test on test stand (X5 M)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Check tires for damage
- Check tire treads
- Checking tire pressure
- The brakes must be at normal operating temperature. To that end, warm up and dry off the brake discs by braking the vehicle a few times.
IMPORTANT:
- Only brake test stands with test speeds of 2.5-6 km/h may be used.
Front brakes:
- Drive the front wheels of the vehicle onto the brake test stand
- Place the selector lever in selector lever position "N"
- Start the brake test stand
- Press service brake pedal
- Read off maximum brake power on left/right
Rear brakes:
- Drive the rear wheels of the vehicle onto the brake tester
- Place the selector lever in selector lever position "N"
- Start the brake test stand
- Press service brake pedal
- Read off maximum brake power on left/right
Parking brake:
IMPORTANT:
The test may only be carried out with the engine switched off, the selector lever in the "N" position and the ignition switched on.
NOTE:
The electromechanical parking brake can not be tested on a plate test stand!
- Drive the rear wheels of the vehicle onto the brake tester
- Place the selector lever in selector lever position "N"
- Turn off engine.NOTE: When the engine is running, additional braking effect will otherwise be exerted by the DSC system on all the wheels.
- Turn on ignition
- Start the brake test stand
- Activate parking brake, pull button (1) for this purposeNOTE: Parking brake indicator light lights up red in display. Duo-servo brake (actuating unit) is applied. Brake tester switches off after wheels lock up (slip) or vehicle is pushed off the brake tester.
- Read off maximum brake power on left/right
- Deactivate parking brake:
- Press button (1) and simultaneously press service brake pedalNOTE: Duo-servo brake (actuating unit) is released.
- Press button (1) and simultaneously press service brake pedal
