13 53 170 Removing and installing/replacing pressure lines to the injectors (N47 D20 O1)
Special tools required:
IMPORTANT:
When working on the oil, coolant or fuel circuit, you must protect the alternator against dirt contamination.
Cover alternator with suitable materials.
Failure to comply with this procedure may result in an alternator malfunction.

IMPORTANT:
After the engine has stopped, wait at least 1 minute before releasing the high pressure lines.
After disconnecting the pressure lines, it is absolutely essential to seal the injectors and the high-pressure accumulator with protective caps.
Do not mix up new pressure lines.

Necessary preliminary work:
- Read fault memory.
- Switch off ignition.
- Remove INTAKE FILTER HOUSING .
Recycling:
Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
Release all union nuts of the pressure lines with special tool 37 1 152 .
NOTE:
Reset special tool in good time to prevent bending of pressure lines.

Risk of damage to injector and pressure accumulator!
Observe tightening torque: 13 53 2AZ without fail If the pressure lines are leaking after installation, they must be replaced. Do not retighten pressure lines with a higher tightening torque!

Installing pressure lines
IMPORTANT:
Risk of injector breakage! Observe tightening torque: 13 53 2AZ
without fail.
All pressure lines may only be reused 3 times; after the 3rd time, they must be replaced.

- Insert pressure lines.
- Hand-tighten all union nuts on pressure lines.
- Tighten down union nuts on injectors to specified torque.
Tightening torque: 13 53 2AZ .
- Tighten down union nuts on pressure accumulator to specified torque.
Tightening torque: 13 53 2AZ .
- Check all components of common rail system for tightness.
Reassemble the vehicle.
Vent fuel system via BMW diagnosis system.
Check fuel system for leak tightness.
