51 16 160 Removing and installing/replacing center console cover

Special tools required:

00 9 325

Necessary preliminary work:

Manual gearbox versions only:

Disconnect NEGATIVE TERMINAL

NOTE: Front of center console cover (1) is equipped with hook (2).

Unclip the center console cover (1) from the rear to the front using special tools 00 9 325 .

Unthread gaiter (1) from center console cover (2).

Version with automatic transmissions only:

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!
To avoid scratching the center console cover (1) when removing the gear selector switch (2), mask gear selector switch (2) with yellow plastic adhesive tape.

Remove center console cover (1) at a slant toward the rear. In the process, unlock and disconnect all plug connections (2).

Installation note:

Retaining clips (1) and hook tabs (2) of center console cover (3) must not be damaged or missing.

Replacement

Remount front storage compartment or FRONT CONTROLLER (2)
Remount CENTER CONSOLE OPERATING FACILITY (1)
