Microphone and microphone 2

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 BMW X5, 2012 BMW X5, and 2011 BMW X5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Depending on the series and the vehicle equipment, two hands-free microphones (microphone and microphone 2) are installed in the outer left and right sides of the roofliner near the sun visors. The microphone installation location can vary depending on the vehicle type. The microphones are used for the hands-free mode during telephone operation. The microphone on the driver's side is always used for an emergency call.

The microphones work with full duplex transmission. This means that the audio frequency signals are activated for both parties. It is thereby possible to speak and listen during the same call.

The hands-free microphones are directly connected to the Combox.

If a Combox is not installed, the microphone will be omitted for the roofliner on the passenger's side. The microphone for speech processing (if part of the equipment) in the roofliner on the driver's side is then directly connected with the headunit.
