17 11 100 Removing and installing/replacing coolant expansion tank (M57T2, N57 D30 O/T/S 0/1)

IMPORTANT: Risk of scalding!
Only perform this repair work after engine has cooled down.

Necessary preliminary work: 

Clamp off coolant hose (1) with a suitable tool.

Unlock and detach coolant hose (1).

Catch and dispose of escaping coolant.

Release screws.

Raise coolant expansion tank (2) slightly until the connector for coolant level switch and lower coolant hose are accessible.

Installation note: 

Unlock connector (1) and remove.

Clamp off coolant hose (2) with a suitable tool.

Unlock and detach lower coolant hose (2).

Catch and dispose of escaping coolant.

Remove expansion tank (3).

NOTE: The coolant hose is shown removed to for purposes of clarity.
