64 12 577 Replacing changeover valve for independent/auxiliary heater

WARNING: Danger of scalding!
Only perform the following tasks on an engine that has cooled down.
FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FOR WORKING ON COOLING SYSTEM .
NOTE: Disconnect coolant hoses from changeover valve for independent/auxiliary heater. See 64 0... DISCONNECTING A WATER HOSE .

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!
Observe coolant through flow direction, mark coolant hoses before removing.
NOTE: If necessary, catch escaping coolant.

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Release spring clamps (2) and detach coolant hoses.

Release nuts (3) and remove changeover valve for independent/auxiliary heater (4).

After installation: 

Vent cooling system and check for water leaks  . See 17 00 039 VENTING COOLING SYSTEM AND CHECKING FOR WATER LEAKS (M57TU, M57T2) or 17 00 039 VENTING COOLING SYSTEM AND CHECKING FOR WATER LEAKS (N63) .
