13 53 170 Replacing all pressure lines (M57T2)

Special tools required:
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Read out the fault memory of the DDE control unit
- Switch off ignition
- LAYOUT OF COMMON RAIL SYSTEM
- Remove INTAKE PLENUM
- Cover intake ducts
IMPORTANT:
When working on the oil, coolant or fuel circuit, you must protect the alternator against contamination.
Cover alternator with suitable materials.
Failure to comply with this procedure may result in an alternator malfunction.

IMPORTANT:
It is essential to adhere to conditions of absolute cleanliness when carrying out repair work on the fuel system.
- Do not allow any dirt particles or foreign bodies to get into the system
- Use only fluff-free cloths
- Remove all traces of dirt contamination before dismantling lines or separate components
- Seal all fuel system openings with protective caps.
Recycling:
Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
This procedure is applicable to all pressure lines:
Release union nuts (1) of pressure line (2) with special tool 13 5 020 .
NOTE:
Reset special tool in early to avoid bending pressure lines.
Installation note:
On replacement:
Do not mix up pressure lines!
Installation note:
Risk of injector breakage!
Make sure tightening torque: 13 53 1AZ (M57T2), 13 53 8AZ (M57, M57TU) is applied.
- Hand-tighten all union nuts on pressure lines.
- Tighten down union nuts on injectors to specified torque.
- Check all components of common rail system for tightness.
