32 31 020 Removing and installing/replacing lower section of steering column shroud

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove the TOP SECTION OF STEERING COLUMN CASING .
• Move steering column in "top" and "extended" position.

Removal: 

Press retaining lugs outwards a little and unclip steering column shroud downwards.

Tilt steering column shroud in downward direction.

If necessary, unlock plug connection (1) from "steering column adjustment" switch and plug connection (2) of emergency start aerial and disconnect.

Remove steering column shroud lower section.

Installation: 

Connect connector (1) to the steering column adjustment switch and plug connection (2) of emergency start aerial.

Align steering column shroud by means of retaining lugs with steering column and push them apart a little.

Press steering column shroud completely towards the top until the retaining lugs engage.

Check installation position, correct if necessary.
