Necessary preliminary work: 

• Remove center console cover. See 51 16 160 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CENTER CONSOLE COVER .

Variant overview of center console cover (3): 

1. Automatic transmission
2. Manual gearbox

Release screws (1).

Remove switch for soft top activation (2) from center console cover (3).
