51 16 178 Removing and installing (replacing) side clip at center console

Special tools required: 

• 00 9 325

When working on trim panel components, make sure that visible surfaces are not scratched or damaged (e.g. by sharp-edged tools).

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove center console cover. See 51 16 160 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CENTER CONSOLE COVER .
• Remove side trim on center console (passenger side). See 51 16 227 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TRIM ON CENTER CONSOLE AT SIDE LEFT OR RIGHT .
• Remove side trim panel (carpet) on center console (passenger side). See 51 16... REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CUP HOLDER DECORATIVE TRIM .

Release screws (1) from side clip (2) inside and outside.

Tightening torque 51 16 25AZ .

Slightly raise the rear side clip (2) and slide forward until the side clip (2) detaches from the front top of the hook (3).

Tilt the side clip (1) to the side and release and remove the plug connections (2).

Remove side clip (1).

Replacement 

• Modify CONTROLLER (1)
• Modify drinks holder/ashtray (2). See 51 16 202 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FRONT CUPHOLDER .
