51 16 167 Removing and installing (replacing) center armrest cover

Special tools required: 

• 00 9 325

When working on trim panel components, make sure that visible surfaces are not scratched or damaged (e.g. by sharp-edged tools).

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove rear center console trim. See 51 16 163 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR CENTER CONSOLE COVER .
• Remove both side covers on center console. See 51 16 227 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TRIM ON CENTER CONSOLE AT SIDE LEFT OR RIGHT .

Open storage compartment, if necessary.

Lever out and remove the closure cover (1) with special tool 00 9 325 .

Release left and right bolts (2) on center armrest cover (1).

Tightening torque 51 16 13AZ .

Release screws (1) on back of center armrest cover (2).

Tightening torque 51 16 13AZ .

Raise the rear center armrest cover (2) and pull back slightly.

Installation note: 

Correctly feed the retaining lugs (1) into the center console support.

F12 only: 

• Remove the plug connection (1) from the actuator drive (2) and remove the center armrest cover.

Replacement 

• Rebuild center armrest lock. See 51 16 273 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FASTENER FOR CENTER ARMREST .
