51 71 447 Removing and installing or replacing trim panel for cover on left or right side member

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove door sill cover strip. See 51 47 065 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING ROCKER PANEL TRIM ON FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT ENTRANCE (OUTER)  or 51 47 066 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING ILLUMINATED ROCKER PANEL TRIM ON FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT ENTRANCE (OUTER) .

Release expanding rivet (1) and (3).

Release bottom screws (4).

Tightening torque 51 71 4AZ .

Unclip trim panel for cover on side member (2) in marked areas and remove.

Installation note: 

Ensure that cover is correctly seated on side member (2) in marked areas.

Installation note: 

Retaining lugs (2) of holding strip at front (1) and rear (3) must be neither damaged nor missing.
