Removing and installing/replacing fan cowl with electric fan (S55 engine)
Only perform this repair work on an engine that has cooled down.
Necessary preliminary work:
- Switch off ignition.
- Remove AIR DUCT to the front.
- Remove ELECTRIC PUMP, LOW PRESSURE .
- Remove LEFT INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
Removal:
Release screws (1) from engine oil cooler (2).
Secure engine oil cooler (2) against falling out.
Release coolant line (1) from clamp.
Unfasten screws (2).
Release screws (3) of air duct.
Secure fan cowl (4) against dropping.
Release coolant lines (1) from clamps.
Unlock latch mechanism (2).
Release fan cowl (3) upwards from guides (4).
Remove fan cowl (3) downwards.
Installation note:
Ensure correct installation position of fan cowl on holder (1).
Locks (2) of coolant hoses.
Installation:
Install fan cowl (3) from below.
Insert fan cowl (3) from above into guides (4).
Lock coolant lines (1) in clamps.
Lock must snap audibly into place.
Lock latch mechanism (2).
Tighten screws (3) of air duct.
Tightening torque 17 10 4AZ .
Lock coolant line (1) in clamp.
Lock must snap audibly into place.
Tighten down screws (2).
Tightening torque 17 10 1AZ .
Tighten screws (1) of engine oil cooler (2).
Tightening torque 17 22 3AZ .
Required follow-up work:
- Install AIR DUCT at front
- Install LEFT INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING
- Bleed and charge COOLING CIRCUIT (LT COOLING SYSTEM) with vacuum charger
