Removing and installing/replacing tension strut on spring strut dome (M4 Coupe, M4 Convertible)

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage to the body!
Driving without the tension strut is prohibited.

Necessary preliminary work:

Removal:

Release the expanding rivet (1).

Place the sealing (2) back.

NOTE: Carry out the work on the right side in the same way as for the left side that is shown here.

Release the screw (1) and remove the holder for the expansion tank from the tension strut.

Release the screws (2 to 4).

Pull off the seal (1).

Release the covers (2) and release the screws below.

Remove the tension strut (3).

Installation:

Insert the tension strut (3).

Tighten the screws under the covers (2).

Tightening torque 51 61 15AZ .

Parts: Replace the screws.

Install the covers (2).

Attach the seal (1).

Attach the holder for the expansion tank on the tension strut and secure it with the screw (1).

Tighten the screws (2 to 4).

Attach the sealing (2) and secure it with the expanding rivets (1).
