51 42 000 Remove and install left or right rear door trim panel
Special tools required:
- 00 9 325
When working on trim panel components, make sure that the sensitive surfaces are not scratched or damaged.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove COVER ON DOOR HANDLE
- Remove ROCKER SWITCH for power window regulator
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque: 51 42 1AZ .
Tape off rear door in working area with plastic adhesive tape.
Do not pull door trim panel too far inside while it is clipped (risk of breakage).
Slide in special tool 00 9 325 at the top between the door trim panel and rear door in the B-pillar area and leverage the door trim panel slightly inward.
Hold door trim panel with free hand and set special tool 00 9 325 directly on reinforcement (1) of the first clip (2).
Loosen door trim panel by levering against reinforcement (1) of the first clip (2).
Then loosen the remaining clips (2) in direction of arrow, pulling the door trim panel slightly inwards with your free hand.
Pull door trim panel (1) off of clamps (2) in inward direction.
Installation note:
Replace faulty clamps (2).
Disengage Bowden cable (1) for release lever first at counter support (2) and then at door lock (3).
Installation note:
Perform function check for door inside handle with door open and rotary striker lock closed.
Feed out door wiring harness from all brackets.
Unlock and disconnect all plug connections, then remove door trim panel.
Installation note:
Replace faulty clips (1 and 2).
Make sure the installation location of clips (1 and 2) is correct.
- Clips (natural) with sealing washer
- Clips (pile)
Installation note:
After assembling the door trim panel proceed as follows:
- Open side window
- Lock with ignition key
- Check for ease of movement on locking button linkage
- If necessary, align linkage
