51 23 400 Removing and installing/replacing left or right actuator (active pedestrian protection), vehicles from 09/2011

The battery negative lead must be clamped off prior to work on the actuator or engine compartment lid!
Do not exert any force on the actuator.
Incorrect handling may result in triggering of the actuator and thereby cause serious injury.

Necessary preliminary tasks:
Disconnect battery earth lead.
Removal
Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.
Release bolt (2) and remove actuator (3).
Installation
Comply with notes regarding handling active PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION .
Install actuator (3) and tighten bolt (2).
Tightening torque: 41 61 8AZ .
Attach plug connection (1).
Required reworking:
Connect battery earth lead.
