51 23... Adjusting/replacing bump stops

The illustrations show a schematic diagram that must be transferred to the respective vehicle type.

Version 1: 

The following parts must not be damaged:

Adjust stop pad (1) to correct height by turning left or right.

Version 2: 

Replace damaged stop pad (available via the applicable BMW parts catalogue):

Press the ejector (1) into the stop pad and turn it in this position approx. 90° to the left with a Phillips screwdriver.

The ejectors (1) are thus locked into the stop pads.

Adjust stop pad (2) to correct height by turning left or right.

Unlock the ejector (1) again after setting has occurred.

Version 3: 

Replace damaged stop pad (available via the applicable BMW parts catalogue):

Stop (1) 45° counter-clockwise.

Pull stop pad (2) upwards.

Close lid slowly until it is at the same height as the side wall.

Open flap and turn stop (1) clockwise.

Installation note: 

Press the stop pad into the sheet metal part and knock in the expanding pins (3).

Screw in stop pads (1) fully until the pin (2) can be pulled out.

Slowly pull the pin (2) out approx. 5 mm.

Slowly close the hood. The pin (2) is pushed into the stop pad (1) in this process.

Raise hood.

Unscrew stop pad (1) until stop pad is flush with upper edge of pin (2).

Prerequisite: Lid must be correctly adjusted.

Version 1:

Version 2: 

Replace damaged stop pads (refer to the applicable BMW parts catalogue):

Adjusting version 2:

Stop (1) 45° counter-clockwise.

Pull stop pad (2) upwards.

Close lid slowly until it is at the same height as the side wall.

Open flap and turn stop (1) clockwise.

Installation note: 

Press stop pad into panel and drive in expanding pins (3).

Version 3: 

Lever out expanding rivets (1).

Remove stop pad (2).

Adjusting version 3:

Checking correct adjustment:

Adjustment procedures: 

Screw in stop pad until the paper strip can be easily pulled out.

Then unscrew stop pad until the paper strip cannot be pulled out any more.

Screw in stop pad until the paper strip can be pulled out with "slight" resistance.

Version 4: 

Lever out expanding rivets (1).

Remove stop pad (2).

Adjusting version 4:

Set stop pad to the correct height by turning to the left or right.

Version 5: 

Release screws (1) and remove stop pad (2).

Adjusting version 5:

Set stop pad to the correct height by turning to the left or right.

The following parts must not be damaged:

Remove stop pad by pressing detents back.

Screw in stop pad (1) to create distance to front compartment lid.

Place a cone (2) of modeling or sealing compound on the stop pad.

Slowly close the hood.

Raise the hood.

Compressed cone (1) determines distance between stop pad and front compartment lid.

Measure dimension a between compressed cone and edge (1) of stop pad.

Adjust measured dimension a + 0.5 mm by unscrewing stop pad (1).

Remove adjusting buffer by pressing detents back.

Screw adjusting buffer (1) until the pin (2) can be pulled out.

Slowly pull the pin (2) out approx. 15 mm.

Slowly close the hood.

The pin (2) is thus pushed into the adjusting buffer (1).

Raise the hood.

Unscrew the adjusting buffer (1) until it is flush with the upper edge of the pin (2).
