Remove Tailgate

Preliminary work

- Support hood/trunk lid in fully open position with the aid of a suitable device.
- Unlock and disconnect plug connections (1).
- Detach the wiring harness (2) at the marked points (arrows) from the brackets.
- Detach rubber grommet (3) and feed it through to the inside together with the wiring harness (2).
- Release the wiring harness (1) at the marked points (arrows).
- Release rubber grommet (3).
- Thread out the wiring harness (1) and wiring harness (2) from the tailgate.
- Unlock and disconnect plug connections (1).
- Release rubber grommet (2).
- Thread out the connector (1) from the tailgate.
- Unlock tabs (1).
Remove acoustic sensor (2) and unlock and disconnect the associated plug connection.
- Unlock and disconnect all plug connections (arrows) of the wiring harness (3).
- Detach wiring harness (1) at the marked positions (arrows) and set it aside.NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Mechanical effects .
Paint damage .- Mask those working areas at risk with yellow plastic adhesive tape.
- Remove and install heavy or bulky components with the aid of another person/other persons.
- Close tailgate. Make sure the striker does not engage in the tailgate lock. If necessary, cover the tailgate lock.
- Unscrew the screws (1) and remove the tailgate.
