Preparing New Parts

Replacing the coarse thread bolt and threaded weld bolts (steel surface)

NOTE: Schematic diagram is for example purposes. Some parts may differ in certain details.

Renew the coarse thread bolt (1) and the threaded weld bolt (2).
Parts: Coarse thread bolt, threaded weld bolt

Take the number and position from the component to be replaced or the add-ons.
Weld the coarse thread bolt (1) and threaded weld bolt (2) onto the new part.

Preparing new part, right side member
Mark and make the separating cut (1) on the new part correspondent to the separating cut in the vehicle.

Prepare a reinforcement plate for the separating cut.

Release welded connections on the new part from the inside in the areas (1).

Mark and make the separating cut (1) on the new part correspondent to the separating cut in the vehicle.
Prepare a reinforcement plate for the separating cut.

Adjust new parts to fit with alignment bracket or universal fixture and secure.
Prepare the separating cut (1) and the reinforcement plate (2) for joining by welding.

Preparing new part, right luggage compartment floor

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Adhesive technology in the area of the outer skin (not for structural adhesion): The bonding surfaces of the new parts may not sharpened or ground. For more information see: 41 00... BMW bonding instructions
Adjust the luggage compartment floor in combination with side panel and tail panel to fit and secure.
Prepare the joints in areas (1) and (2) using the bond-and-rivet method.
In areas (1) and (2) drill out 5 bores to dia. 4.2 mm for blind rivets.

In areas (1) and (2) drill out 6 bores to dia. 4.2 mm for blind rivets.
Remove new component. Deburr bores.

Prepare new parts, back luggage compartment floor

Mark and carry out the separating cut on the new part according to the separating cut on the vehicle + 20 mm material allowance.
Adjust the new part in conjunction with the tail panel and secure.

In areas (1) to (3), drill out Ω 4.2 mm bores for blind rivet.

Prepare holder (2) for joining by welding in areas (1).
Remove new part and deburr holes.
