Removing the rear silencer

Replace the rear silencer
Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING THE REAR CONNECTING SUPPORTS .
- Refer to REMOVING THE CROSS STRUT WITH THE TORSION STRUT .

- Perform all work only on components that have cooled down.

- Note component's center of gravity.
- Support component using a jack.
- Secure component against falling off the jack.

- Remove and install heavy components with the aid of another person/other persons.

Shavings resulting from sawing or grinding components

- Conduct all work in appropriate personal protective equipment only.
- Wear safety goggles and hand protection.
- If the separation point is not marked by a punch mark in the pipe, determine the separation point by means of the pipe length on the new component.
- Transfer the separation point to the component to be replaced and mark.
- Cut through the component to be replaced at the marked point with a suitable tool.
If installed: Disconnecting the plug connection of exhaust flaps
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Loosen nuts (1).
- Guide out the rear silencer (2) with a second person and remove.
