Removing the selector lever

Preliminary work

Refer to DISCONNECTING THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE OF THE SYSTEM BATTERY .

Lever out the gaiter (1) from all around the trim panel with the special tool 0 496 571 (00 9 327) .

Move selector lever (1) all the way to the front in the direction of the arrow.
Grip the plastic guide of the connector (3) with a pair of pliers (2) at the top.
The wiring harness must not be pinched or damaged in the process.
Release the plastic guide of the connector (3) to the rear in the direction of the arrow out of the latch mechanism.

Pull plastic guide of the connector (1) carefully out of the latch mechanism upwards in the direction of the arrow with slight back-and-forth movements.
The plastic guide remains on the wiring harness.

Unlock plug connection (1) in the direction of the arrow and disconnect.

Pull the selector lever (1) up vertically with a powerful jerk.
Make sure that the selector level (1) does not turn when it is pulled off.
