Replacing drive belt for coolant pump (S55 Engine) (2019-2022)

Necessary preliminary work: 

Removal: 

WARNING: High preload force  of the elastic strap.

Danger of injury! 

Releasing  the screw connection on the coolant pump belt pulley only permitted in installation position. 

NOTE: Mark the direction of rotation of the drive belt if it is to be reused.

Rotate engine in direction of engine rotation  on the

central bolt (2) until the belt pulley of the coolant pump is de-energized. 

Release screws (1).

Attention! 

Slackening of the belt pulley is sudden and causes a loud noise (danger of injury)! 

Continue to rotate engine in direction of engine rotation  on the central bolt until the belt pulley is slackened  (see illustration).

Pull drive belt (2) out and remove.

Installation: 

Belt pulley (1) is tension-free (see illustration).

Installation note: 

Check drive belt for correct installation position  and, if reusing, observe direction of rotation. (risk of damage). 

Insert and install the drive belt (2).

Rotate engine in direction of arrow  on the central bolt (2) until the drive belt is tightened  on the belt pulley.

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque: 11 53 7AZ .
