65 12 071 Removing and installing/replacing amplifier

NOTE: Comply with notes and notes on HANDLING OPTICAL FIBRES .

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Clamp off negative battery cable . See 61 20 900 DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD or 61 20 900 DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY EARTH LEAD .
Remove TOP TRIM FROM TAIL PANEL .

Lever out expanding rivets (1).

Release screw (2).

Remove lashing eye (3).

Carefully press luggage compartment wheel arch panel (4) to one side.

Installation note:

Make sure luggage compartment wheel arch panel (4) and rubber seal are correctly fitted.

Pull off wiring harness guide (1) in an upward direction.

Lever out expanding rivet (1).

Remove wheel arch support (3) by lifting upwards.

Release screw (1).

Remove amplifier (4) including holder (2).

Unlock plug connections (3) and disconnect.

Replacement:

Remove amplifier (4) including holder (3).

Installation note:

Lugs (1) must be correctly slid into guide (2).

Check that amplifier (3) is securely seated.

Replacement:

Carry out VEHICLE PROGRAMMING AND ENCODING .
