51 24 326 Removing and installing/replacing right tension spring with damper for tailgate

Necessary preliminary work: 

WARNING: Support tailgate in fully opened position with suitable apparatus.
Danger of injury!

Press clamp (1) together.

Ball socket (2) jumps out of ball stud.

WARNING: The tailgate will drop down if it is not supported.

Installation note: 

Tension spring must not be twisted when clipping in ball socket (2).

This can lead to tension causing the ball socket to come loose from the ball stud.

Unhook tension spring with damper (1) from tailgate hinge (2).
