51 16 165 Removing and installing/replacing complete center console

When working on trim panel components, make sure that the sensitive surfaces are not scratched or damaged.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove SIDE TRIM PANEL ON CENTER CONSOLE  on left and right
• Automatic version only: 
  • Disconnect NEGATIVE TERMINAL
  • Remove GEAR SELECTOR SWITCH
• Remove CENTER ARMREST STORAGE COMPARTMENT 
• Rear cabin entertainment option only: 
  • Remove DVD PLAYER IN REAR CONSOLE

Release screws (1) from center console (2), front.

Installation note: 

When feeding center console (2) in, pay attention to any cables from comfort antenna.

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 51 16 4AZ .

4-zone automatic air conditioning option only: 

Unlock plug connection (1) on rear compartment blower (2) and disconnect.

Release screws (1) from center console (2), rear.

Tightening torque 51 16 4AZ .

Remove aerial for Comfort Access (2) from bracket.

Disconnect associated plug connection.

Carefully feed out center console (3) in upward direction.

Replacement 

• Change over CENTER ARMREST .
• Change over all fixings.
