51 45 031 Replacing instrument panel trim

Special tools required: 

• 00 9 325

When working on trim panel components, make sure that the sensitive surfaces are not scratched or damaged.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove INSTRUMENT PANEL TRIM 
• Change over airbag module on passenger side

Unclip trim (1) with special tool 00 9 325 from latch mechanisms and remove upwards.

Installation: 

Marked retaining lugs must not be damaged.

Release screws (1) on tweeter.

Release screws (1) on mid-range speaker (2).

Remove both speakers.

Release screws (2) on center function carrier (1).

Pull center function carrier (1) slightly forwards, then lifted it out while tilting it downwards.

Bend steering column sleeve (1) in direction of arrow and remove.

Unclip left and right air ducts (1) and modify.

Release spring stops (2) from left and right air ducts (1).

Remove air ducts (1).

Installation: 

Make sure air ducts (1) are correctly seated.

Change over remaining fixings (3).

If necessary, replace RESILIENT SEALING TAPE  for VIN number inspection window.
