BDC Body Domain Controller

The Body Domain Controller controls the exterior lights. If the driving light is activated, the positioning lights light up. The Body Domain Controller (BDC) sends the request via a bus signal to the night vision electronics (NVE). The NVE transmits the control signals to the control units for left-hand targeted illumination (GZAL) and right-hand targeted illumination (GZAR).

The Body Domain Controller (BDC) represents a new generation superseding existing control units and their functions. For example, the Body Domain Controller (BCD) safeguards functions from the following former control units:

FRM: Footwell module
CAS: Car Access System
JBE: Junction Box Electronics
ZGM: Central gateway module

The central gateway module (ZGM) is integrated into the Body Domain Controller (BDC). The central gateway module (ZGM) is seen as a control unit within the control unit, as the central gateway module (ZGM) acts as a self-sufficient control unit within the Body Domain Controller (BDC).
