Remove and install/replace monitoring oxygen sensor (B46/B48 4-Cyl. Engine) (4' Series Coupe/Convertible, 4' Series Gran Coupe Sedan)
Special tools required:
- 11 9 150
- 11 7 030
The monitoring oxygen sensor cable is grey (1) .
The installation location of the monitoring oxygen sensor is behind the catalytic converter .
Only perform these tasks after exhaust system has cooled down.
Sheared wiring could cause a short circuit.
When disconnecting plugs and plug connections, do not pull on the cables.
Necessary preliminary work:
- Remove ACOUSTIC COVER AT REAR .
Removal:
Release connector (1) using screwdriver (2) and remove from carrier plate.
Unlock and disconnect connector (1).
Unhook oxygen sensor cable (1) in marked areas.
Loosen monitoring oxygen sensor (1) with special tool 11 9 150 and 11 7 030.
Remove the monitoring oxygen sensor.
Installation:
Apply thin and uniform coating of high-temperature paste to threads of oxygen sensor (refer to item 4.3 in OVERVIEW OF CONSUMABLES ).
Do not clean and do not coat sensor ceramics (oxygen sensor section in exhaust branch) with lubricant.
Screw in monitoring oxygen sensor (1).
Tighten monitoring oxygen sensor with special tool 11 9 150 and 11 7 030.
Tightening torque: 11 78 1AZ .
Attach oxygen sensor cable (1) in marked areas.
Connect the connector (1) and clip into carrier plate.
Required follow-up work:
- Install ACOUSTIC COVER, REAR .
