Replacing Rear Left Outer Wheel Arch Section With Reinforcement (Rear Side Panel Removed)

Observe procedure of REPAIR TECHNIQUES, REPAIR STAGE 3 .

Read contents of body, general; refer to CONTENTS OF BODY, GENERAL .

For stripping and rigging operations, refer to texts on KSD CD (job number 41 14 502).

Spot-weld bonding is used on this vehicle. Observe specific procedure; refer to SPOT-WELD BONDING STEEL COMPONENTS .

Use only an approved spot-welding apparatus for repairs! Refer to WORKSHOP EQUIPMENT (BMW AND MINI VEHICLES) .

Following new body parts are required (refer to appropriate parts information ):

1. Wheel arch liner, left
2. Support, C-pillar
3. C-pillar reinforcement
4. Tensioning strap C-pillar
5. Shaped part, C-pillar (not shown)

Removal of the outer wheel arch section with reinforcement 

Open welded connections in areas (1).

Remove C-pillar support (2) and C-pillar reinforcement (3).

Open welded connections in areas (1).

Open spot-welded adhesive joints in area (2); refer to OPENING BONDED CONNECTIONS .

Remove outer section of wheel arch.

New part preparation 

Remove adhesive residues in the area (1).

Adjust new parts in conjunction with side panel to fit.

Installation of the outer wheel arch section with reinforcement 

Apply sealant to new cavity sealing; refer to INSTALLING CAVITY SEALING (NOT EXPANDED) .

Install and weld new parts.
