12 14 550 Replacing control unit (DME) (B48)
Attention!
Read and comply with NOTES ON PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD PROTECTION).
Necessary preliminary work:
- Disconnect the BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE
- Remove the ACOUSTIC COVER
Attention!
Follow INSTRUCTIONS for removing and installing control units.
The fault memory must be read out using the diagnosis system, and a fault memory printout made.
Replacement:
- Carry out programming/encoding
- If no data can be read out from the previous control unit, carry out injection quantity compensation (description at end of instruction).
Removal:
Remove cover (1).
Unlock and disconnect plugs (1).
Unlock and disconnect plugs (2).
Loosen the wiring harness from the holder (3) and put to one side.
Unlock and loosen all connectors (1).
Unlock and loosen all connectors (1) in the direction of the arrow.
Unlock and loosen the locks along the arrow.
Remove the Digital Motor Electronics control unit (1).
Installation:
Insert and install the Digital Motor Electronics control unit (1).
The locks must engage audibly along the arrow.
Connect and lock all connectors (1) along the arrows.
All connectors (1) must engage audibly.
Connect and lock all connectors (1).
All connectors (1) must engage audibly.
Connect connector (2) and lock.
Attach and lock connector (1).
All connectors must audibly engage.
Insert and secure the wiring harness to the holder (3).
Install cover (1).
Required follow-up work:
- Connect the BATTERY EARTH LEAD
- Install the ACOUSTIC COVER
Attention!
If the DME control unit has been replaced, it will also be necessary to reset the minimum quantity adjustment of the injectors!
