11 78 510 Remove and install/replace front oxygen sensor (B48B)

Special tools required:

11 7 020

The cable on the front oxygen sensor (1) is black.

The installation location of the front oxygen sensor is before the catalytic converter.

WARNING: Risk of burning!
Only perform these tasks after exhaust system has cooled down.

CAUTION: Damage to wires when disconnecting plugs and plug connections.
Sheared wiring could cause a short circuit.
When disconnecting plugs and plug connections, do not pull on the cables.

Necessary preliminary work:

Remove ACOUSTIC COVER
Remove INTAKE FILTER HOUSING

Removal:

Release connector (1) using screwdriver (2) and remove from carrier plate.

Unlock and disconnect connector (1).

Unhook oxygen sensor cable (1) in marked areas.

If applicable, slightly lift the rear acoustic cover.

Release front oxygen sensor (1) with special tool 11 7 020 .

Installation:

NOTE: When reusing oxygen sensor:
Apply thin and uniform coating to oxygen sensor on thread only using NEVER-SEEZ compound OVERVIEW OF CONSUMABLES 4.3 .
Do not clean and do not coat sensor ceramics (oxygen sensor section in exhaust branch) with lubricant.

Screw in front oxygen sensor (1) and tighten with special tool 11 7 020 .

Tightening torque: 11 78 1AZ .

Mount front oxygen sensor (1) in the areas marked.

If applicable, correctly install the rear acoustic cover.

Connect the connector (1) and clip into carrier plate.

Required follow-up work:

Install INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING
Install ACOUSTIC COVER
