41 63 060 Removing And Installing Soft Top Compartment Lid

Necessary preliminary work

Connect battery charger
Remove TRIM PANEL FOR TAILGATE

Close both locks by hand.

NOTE: On closing the second door lock, the Soft Close function must lock audibly.
Closing the locks is necessary so that the soft top system remains ready for operation.

Slowly close the tailgate until the tailgate locks are at the strikers.

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!
A tailgate that is not properly closed can damage the soft top!
Only move the soft top with extreme caution.

Open soft top.

Stop opening procedure in the position shown.

Open tailgate. (without operating the opener)

Detach wiring harness (1) from tailgate and guide through soft top compartment lid.

Carry over the work step shown symmetrically to the other side of the vehicle.

Pay attention to the spacer plates on the underside of the soft top compartment lid!

Release bolts (1) and remove soft top compartment lid in combination with the tailgate.

Tightening torque 41 62 3AZ .

Place soft top compartment lid and tailgate on a suitable surface.

Release nuts (1) and take the tailgate off the soft top compartment lid.

Tightening torque 41 63 3AZ .

Installation note:

For pre-adjustment, carry over the spacer plates. If necessary, adjust soft top compartment lid according to BODY GAP DIMENSIONS . Prerequisite: Tailgate correct preadjusted on soft top compartment lid.
After installation, unlock the locks of the tailgate by operating the opener.
