52 16 030 Removing and installing/replacing backrest frame on left or right front seat

NOTE: This removing/installing/replacing procedure applies to "Sport" seat version.

Necessary preliminary work:

Remove front seat. See REMOVING DRIVER'S SEAT or REMOVING FRONT PASSENGER SEAT .
Remove INNER COVER ON FRONT SEAT
Remove OUTER COVER ON FRONT SEAT

Drill out rivets (1) on left and right.

Installation note:

Completely remove rivet residue.

Unhook seat cover on left and right.

Release all plug connections and cable clips from seat mechanism.

Release screws (1).

Disengage backrest frame with wiring harness.

Installation note:

Clean thread of nut in event of repeated use.

Apply screw locking.

Tightening torque 52 10 2AZ .

Replacement only

Remove complete BACKREST COVER
Remove SIDE AIRBAG
Remove LUMBAR SUPPORT as necessary
Remove drives at backrest. See BACKREST ADJUSTMENT MOTOR and DRIVE UNIT FOR HEAD RESTRAINT HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT .
