51 23 101 Removing and installing/replacing left active engine compartment lid lock

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Disconnect NEGATIVE TERMINAL
- Remove SIDE ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID GASKET MOUNTING in working area
Remove all screws (1) at join (2) from engine compartment lid door lock to center of vehicle; slacken remaining screws (1).
Tightening torque 51 61 6AZ .
NOTE:
Connection (2) does not have to be removed.
Release screws (2) on engine compartment lid lock (1).
Tightening torque 51 23 2AZ .
NOTE:
Shown removed here for purposes of clarity.
Disengage, unlock and disconnect plug connections (1) at lock carrier.
Disconnect Bowden cable (2).
Feed engine compartment lock (3) towards front/top.
NOTE:
Replace sensors in bumper, if damaged:
- Replace LEFT PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION
- Replace CENTER PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION
- Replace RIGHT PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION
- Replace pedestrian protection sensor
