64 11 213 Removing and installing/replacing heater/air conditioner blower

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Remove FAN HOUSING 

Unlock plug connections (2) and (3) and disconnect.

Make sure motor supply lead is correctly laid in cable lead-through (2).

Detach fan housing upper section from fan housing lower section.

Release screws (1) on fan housing (2).

Release fan housing upper section from lower section.

Release screws (1) on fan housing lower section (2).

Release retaining clip (3).

Remove intermediate cover (1) from fan housing lower section (2).

Take fan housing lower section (1) apart as pictured and remove blower motor (2).

Installation note:

Blower motor holder (3) must be seated as pictured on blower motor (2).

Blower motor holder (2) must be correctly seated with guides (4) in guide buffers (5).

Make sure blower motor supply lead (6) are correctly laid.

Installation note: 

Only on vehicles with production dates from 09/2009 to 09/2010: 

On the lower section of fan housing (1) and  on gaiter (5), fill in the groove in labelled areas (2) and  (3) with sealant (BMW part number 8342 0 428 349). Remove excess sealant with brush from groove.
