65 76 625 Removing and installing (replacing) pedestrian protection (optical fibre) (X6 2015-2019)

WARNING: Observe SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS for handling gas generators.
Incorrect handling can activate pedestrian protection and cause injury.

CAUTION:

AFGS (ACTIVE PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION) PROCEDURE AFTER ACCIDENT .

Necessary preliminary work:

REMOVING FRONT BUMPER PANEL .

A damaged impact absorber must not be reused.

Release expanding rivet (1).

Unlock plug connection (1) on left and right and disconnect.

Remove impact absorber (2).

Installation note:

First attach impact absorber (2) at the bottom and then press on at the top.

NOTE: Diagram similar.

Remove optical fibre sensor (1) from impact absorber (2).

Check impact absorber (2). A damaged impact absorber (2) must not be reused.

CAUTION: Fibre-optic cable (1) must be correctly routed in impact absorber (2).
Check impact absorber (2) for damage to the retaining lugs.
Do not fit damaged impact absorbers (2).
