11 65 180 Removing and installing/replacing heat shield at top (N63) (X6 xDrive 50i)
IMPORTANT:
Do not carry out test drives without heat shield (risk of fire!)

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove ENGINE COVER .
- Remove HOLDER FOR ENGINE WIRING HARNESS .
- Remove both control sensors. Refer to 11 78 530 REPLACING LEFT CONTROL SENSOR (N63O1) REP-REP-RAF1511N63O1-1178530 - V.4 (X6 XDRIVE 50I) and 11 78 533 REPLACING RIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (N63) REP-REP-RAF1511N63O1-1178533 - V.4 (X6 XDRIVE 50I) .
Release retaining clip (1) of right and left monitoring sensor.
Detach wire ring (2) and set down behind oxygen sensor.
Release screws (1) but do not unscrew fully.
Tightening torque 11 65 3AZ .
Unfasten screws (2).
Remove sleeves (3) from heat shield.
Installation note:
For sleeve (3) of the control sensor on the right, watch out for the mark, see arrow.
Assemble engine.
