63 10 022 Adjusting dynamic light spot headlights (with headlight adjustment aid) (X6 2015-2019)

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION OF DYNAMIC LIGHT SPOT HEADLIGHT .

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Remove microfilter housing cover on left and right. Refer to 64 31 101 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT MICROFILTER HOUSING COVER REP-REP-RAF1564-6431101 - V.3 (X6 2015-2019) and 64 31 106 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING RIGHT MICROFILTER HOUSING COVER REP-REP-RAF1564-6431106 - V.3 (X6 2015-2019) .

• After removing and installing/replacing the Dynamic Light Spot headlight
• After removing and installing/replacing the front bumper panel
• In the event of customer complaints about the lighting performance

Requirements for adjusting the Dynamic Light Spot headlight with headlight adjustment aid: 

• COMPLY WITH TEST PREREQUISITES FOR HEADLIGHT ADJUSTMENT .
• Position vehicle in front of vertical surface, e. g. a wall (1), as shown.
• Distance (A): 4 - 10 m
• Dim lighting is helpful.
• Have a tape measure and black adhesive tape (maximum width of 2 cm) ready.

• Headlight adjustment aid (2 299 574) has label A, B, C, D with the associated numbers 1 to 5.
• Mountings (2) are labelled A, B, C, D.

Position of mounting (2) on headlight adjustment aid (2 299 574) is specified:

• Here by way of example mounting (B) at B4.

Prepare the headlight adjustment aid (2 299 574) as shown:

• Insert rods (1) into mountings (2) with identification (A, B) and clamp.
• Insert rods (3) into mountings (2) with identification (C, D) and clamp.
• Position front mountings (C, D) with rods (3) on headlight adjustment aid (2 299 574) as follows:
  • Mounting (C) at C1
  • Mounting (D) at D1
• Position rear mountings (A, B) with rods (1) on headlight adjustment aid (2 299 574) as follows:
  • Mounting (A) at A1
  • Mounting (B) at B1
• Secure the laser (4) on the adjustment aid of the headlight (2 299 574). To switch on the laser (4) slide up the flap in front of the laser (4).

Position headlight adjustment aid (2 299 574) at marked openings (1) in engine compartment as shown.

Align headlight adjustment aid (2 299 574) with longitudinally adjustable rods (2) using bubble level (3).

Attention! 

During the alignment of the adjustment aid of the headlight (2 299 574) by means of the bubble level (3) do not use the vehicle as a support! 

Attention! 

When the high-beam headlight is correctly set to prevent dazzle, the laser beam is at the height of the middle of the vehicle! 

Align laser (position 4 in Fig 1 ) by slight twisting towards right or left in such a way that laser beam (1) meets exactly the center of the screw (2).

Switch the ignition on.

Perform test procedure via path:

• Service functions
• Body
• Lighting
• Adjust targeted illumination (GZA)

Determining distances: 

Measure and note down distance (A) between middle of Dynamic Light Spot headlight (3) and floor (2).

Measure and note down distance (B) between laser beam (1) and floor (2) on the vehicle.

Determine and note down distance (C):

Distance (C) = distance (B) - distance (A)

Attach adhesive tape markings (3, 4, 5 shown in black in the graphic) to the wall:

1. Mark vertical laser beam (1) for example with adhesive tape (3) to wall (distance from floor (6) approx. 20 cm).
2. Measure and mark distance (B) (see table below) at the upper and lower end of the adhesive tape (3) on both sides. Connect the marks with the adhesive tape (4).
3. Measure distance (C) from the previous operation from the horizontal laser beam (2) on both sides downwards and mark with adhesive tape (5).

Check adjustment of Dynamic Light Spot headlight as follows: 

Light pattern of the Dynamic Light Spot headlight must be within the area (1) on both sides.

Here 1/3 of the light pattern must be above and 2/3 below line (2).

Examples of light patterns:

1. Incorrect setting: horizontally too high, vertically too far left
2. Incorrect setting: horizontally too high, vertically too far right
3. Incorrect setting: horizontally correct, vertically too far right
4. Correct setting

If necessary, adjust Dynamic Light Spot headlight (3) with screws (1, 2).
