Remove and install/replace catalytic converter cylinders 1-4 (S63 B44 T 2) (X6 M)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove upper HEAT SHIELD .
• Remove ENGINE BULKHEAD .
• Remove EXHAUST SYSTEM .
• Remove VACUUM PUMP .
• Remove the RIGHT MONITORING SENSOR .
• Remove right TENSION STRUT .

Removal: 

Release screw (1).

Replace clamp.

Loosen nuts (1) at the bottom on the holder for catalytic converter cylinders 1-4.

Loosen catalytic converter from holder.

Loosen screws (1) on the catalytic converter cylinders 1-4 on the back of the cylinder head.

Slightly lift catalytic converter (1) cylinders 1-4.

Unscrew catalytic converter (1) cylinders 1-4 upward in the direction of arrow.

Preparation for installation: 

Replace gasket on exhaust turbocharger.

Installation: 

Thread and install catalytic converter (1) cylinders 1-4 in the direction of arrow.

Connect catalytic converter (1) to exhaust turbocharger.

Parts:  Replace clamp (1).

Mount clamp (1).

Installation note: 

Clamps must be installed with the screws toward the inside (graphic). Otherwise, a top heat shield can no longer be installed.

Mount holder.

Replace parts:  screws (1).

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 18 32 2AZ .

Tighten screw (2).

Tightening torque 18 32 4AZ .

Tighten screws (1) on rear catalytic converter cylinders 1-4 on cylinder head.

Tightening torque 18 32 3AZ .

Mount catalytic converter on the holder.

Tighten nuts (1) at the bottom on the holder for catalytic converter cylinders 1-4.

Tightening torque 18 32 4AZ .

Installation note: 

The ends of the V-band clamps must rest parallel to each other.

If you can see a gap between the ends of the V-band clamps, release and then repeat the screw connection.

• Install EXHAUST SYSTEM .
• Check exhaust system for leaks.
