17 11 100 Removing and installing/replacing coolant expansion tank (N63)
IMPORTANT:
Risk of scalding!
Only perform this repair work after engine has cooled down.
Only perform this repair work after engine has cooled down.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Follow notes for CARRYING OUT REPAIR WORK ON THE COOLING SYSTEM .
- Drain coolant from radiator down to lower edge on expansion tank.
- Clamp off coolant hoses with a suitable tool.
Unlock and detach coolant hose (1).
Release screw.
Tightening torque 17 10 1AZ .
Raise coolant expansion tank (2) until connector for coolant level switch and lower coolant hose are accessible.
Catch and dispose of escaping coolant.
Installation note:
- Make sure expansion tank is in correct installation position.
Unlock connector (1) and remove.
Unlock and detach lower coolant hose (2).
Remove expansion tank (3).
Top up coolant.
Reassemble the vehicle.
