51 16 001 Remove and install (replace) exterior mirror at the front door on the left or right

Special tools required:

00 9 325

Necessary preliminary work:

Remove BLIND COVER OR TWEETER COVER

Removal:

Release screw (1).

Partially unclip door trim panel (1) in area of exterior mirror using special tool 00 9 325 .

Secure door trim panel (1) with a suitable tool (2).

Partially release window frame cover (3).

IMPORTANT: Secure exterior mirror against falling down.

Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Release screws (2) and remove exterior mirror from outside.

Installation:

NOTE: The sound insulation (1) must not be damaged or missing.
Make sure that the gasket (2) is installed correctly.
Coat the gasket (2) with the authorized lubricant before the installation.

Install the mirror.

Connect and lock the plug connection (1).

Tighten screws (2).

Tightening torque 51 16 1AZ .

IMPORTANT: Due to self-tapping screws, the tightening torque of the new exterior mirror increases by 2 Nm.

Attach the window frame cover (3).

Remove tool (2) and clip in door trim panel (1).

Tighten down screw (1).

Replacement

Remount MIRROR GLASS
Swap over PROTECTIVE CAP ON EXTERIOR MIRROR
Remount RETAINING RING ON EXTERIOR MIRROR
