18 32 050 Removing and installing/replacing catalytic converter (N55)

WARNING: Risk of burning!
Only perform this repair work after the exhaust system has cooled down.

Necessary preliminary work:

NOTE: There is a risk of damaging the oxygen sensor while removing and installing the catalytic converters.

Release clamp (1). The clamp must be renewed every time it is removed.

Tightening torque: 18 31 2AZ .

Installation note:

Clean sealing surface. Renew clamp and seal.

Unclip cable (2) from monitor sensor out of holder.

Unscrew nuts (1).

Tightening torque: 18 20 1AZ .

Feed out catalytic converter (2) and remove.

In so doing, secure catalytic converter against falling out.

Reinstall MONITOR SENSOR when replacing the catalytic converter.

Reassemble the vehicle.

Check exhaust system for leak tightness.
