51 71 470 Removing and installing/replacing cover on front left or right wheel arch

Removal:

Version up to 04/2014:

NOTE: For clarity the vehicle is only partially pictured.

Release blind rivet (1) and screw (2).

Disengage cover (4) at clips (3) and thread out.

Version after 04/2014:

Release marked blind rivets and expanding rivets.

Release cover (1) from latch mechanisms on bumper.

Disengage cover (1) at clips (2) and thread out.

Installation:

Version up to 04/2014:

NOTE: Replace faulty clips (3).
Mount blind rivet with special tool 00 2 230 .
Make sure cover (4) is correctly fitted on underbody protection and bumper.

Thread cover (4) in and engage at clips (3).

Mount blind rivet (1) and tighten screw (2).

Version after 04/2014:

NOTE: Mount blind rivet with special tool 00 2 230 .
Replace faulty clips (2).

Thread cover (1) in and engage at clips (2).

Engage cover (1) in latch mechanisms on bumper.
