11 31 025 Removing and installing/replacing intake camshaft (B48AO0)
Special tools required:
- 11 4 480
Necessary preliminary work:
- Check TIMING
- Remove INTAKE ADJUSTER
- Remove INTERMEDIATE LEVER
Removal:
Bearing cap (E) is a thrust bearing.
Release all screws on bearing caps in the sequence 10 - 1 in 1/2 turns.
Set down all bearing caps in a tidy and orderly fashion on special tool 11 4 480.
Take intake camshaft (1) out of cylinder head.
Installation:
Moisten all bearing positions (1) with engine oil.
Engage intake camshaft in cylinder head so that data code (1) is pointing upwards.
Coat intake camshaft and bearing shells with engine oil.
Position all bearing shells on cylinder head.
Bearing cap (E) is a thrust bearing.
Installation note:
Check the tensile strength of the screws for the bearing caps.
The figure shows the screw with the tensile strength of 8.8 .
Installation note:
Check the tensile strength of the screws for the bearing caps.
The figure shows the screw with tensile strength of 10.9 .
Press down the bearing caps and gradually tighten the screws in the sequence 1-10 so that they are hand-tight.
Join screws in sequence 1-10 in half turns.
Note the tightening torque 11 31 1AZ .
Tighten all screws in sequence from 1 - 10 .
Tightening torque 11 31 1AZ .
Required follow-up work:
- Install INTERMEDIATE LEVER
- Install INTAKE ADJUSTER
- Check TIMING
- Remove all special tools
