Removing and installing/replacing rollover protection system (M4 Convertible)

Rollover protection system may only be removed in the triggered state.

When the actuators are electrically activated, there must be no one in the vicinity of the rollover protection system.

When the actuators are activated, both rollover protection bars are simultaneously triggered.

Trigger ROLLOVER PROTECTION BAR .

Installation note: 

• Microencapsulated screws (Loctite) must be replaced and may not  be reused
• Screw connection must be completed within 20 minutes (start of curing)
• Microencapsulated screws must not  be retightened
• Clean thread of nut beforehand in event of repeated use

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove the ROOF MODULE .
• Remove TRIM PANEL FOR LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT PARTITION WALL
• Remove PARTITION WALL TRIM PANEL IN PASSENGER COMPARTMENT
• Remove AUTOMATIC REEL AND SEAT BELT GUIDE LOOP on left and right
• Remove BACKREST .
• Remove REAR SEAT

Left side: 

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Right side: 

Unlock and disconnect plug connections (1 and 2).

Release cable clip.

Release screws (1) and remove associated screw plate.

Unfasten screws (2).

Tightening torque 54 62 01AZ .

Remove rollover protection system upwards.

Installation note: 

Make sure foam material (3) on left and right is correctly fitted.

Installation note: 

Carry out FUNCTION CHECK .

Replacement: 

Remount guide sleeves (1).

Remount wind deflector lock (2).

Tightening torque 54 37 03AZ .

Remount striker (3).

Tightening torque 54 37 04AZ .
