Removing and installing/replacing windscreen rubber surround (2016-2022)

Special tools required:

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove WINDSCREEN .

IMPORTANT: The glass activator for pre-treating the area of the windscreen adhesive trace must not encroach upon the adhesive area for the rubber frame.
The bonding result of the rubber frame is otherwise compromised.
The rubber frame must therefore be installed prior to applying the glass activator.
Follow INSTRUCTIONS for bonding components with double-sided adhesive tape.

Removal:

Pull off rubber frame (1).

Remove remnants of adhesive tape (2).

Clean bonding surface.

Air drying time: ≥ 1 minute

IMPORTANT: Adhesive area must be dry and free from dust and grease.
Once it has been cleaned, do not touch the adhesive area with bare hands.

Installation:

NOTE: Pre-treat adhesive area with Sika- Aktivator205.
Air drying time: ≥ 1 minute
Sika Activator 205 must not get onto adhesive area of adhesive bead.

NOTE: The start and end points of the rubber point are marked on the windscreen with marks (1).

NOTE: Do not remove protective film on the double-sided adhesive tape of the rubber frame (1) yet.

Place rubber frame (1) on the windscreen and align at starting point (2).

Position special tool 2 232 316 after approx. 10 cm on the rubber frame (1) and windscreen.

Reposition lever (1) thus tensioning the special tool.

Ensure that the special tool is in the correct position at the windscreen and the rubber frame.

Rubber frame (3) must lie in guide pulley (2).
Roller (4) must rest on the outer side of the windscreen
Rollers (5) must rest on the side edge of the windscreen.

Remove protective film (1).

Slide special tool 2 232 316 forwards thus bonding the rubber frame (2) to the windscreen.

Continue to pull off protective film (1) in stages from adhesive tape.

Move special tool using hand wheel over entire window edge until rubber frame (2) is completely bonded.

When bonding, ensure that the special tool is in the correct position at the windscreen and the rubber frame.

Roller (1) must rest on the outer side of the windscreen
Rollers (2) must rest on the side edge of the windscreen.
Rubber frame (3) must lie in guide pulley (4).

Shorten protruding rubber frame at the starting and ending points (1).
