Removing and installing/replacing center console cover (2016-2022)

When working on trim panel components, make sure that visible surfaces are not scratched or damaged (e.g. by sharp-edged tools).

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Remove DECORATIVE TRIM ON CENTER CONSOLE .

Manual gearbox only: 

• Remove gaiter

With automatic transmission only: 

• Remove cover for selector lever

Only for model facelift (LCI) vehicles: 

• REMOVE THE OPERATING FACILITY IN THE CENTER CONSOLE .

Release cover (1) at latch mechanisms (2) and clamps (3).

Slightly raise the cover (1) and disconnect associated plug connection.

Feed out cover (1) toward the top/rear.

Release screws (1).

Installation note: 

The following parts must not be damaged or missing:

• Guides (1)
• Latch mechanisms (2)
• Clamps (3)

Replacement: 

REMOUNT THE OPERATING FACILITY IN THE CENTER CONSOLE (4) .
